What type of tree is perfect for your yard?

Shade Trees

When you think of a shade tree you think of a large tree, often deciduous or meaning it looses its leaves in the winter, and can reach up to 60′ or bigger.  A shade tree’s applications can be numerous.  The are often used to cool down areas underneath, whether a house or other plants.  They are aesthetically pleasing and often increase curb appeal for homes.  Some of the most common tree include Maple, Birch, Magnolia, Honeylocust, Dogwood, Linden, Pear, Oak, Sweetgum, Elm, and Willow.

Ornamental Trees

An ornamental tree often is categorized as having additional benefits above and beyond your typical Shade Tree.  These can and often do include flowering components.  Ornamental trees are often times planted for the beauty they can bring to a garden, yard, or business entrance.  Our favorite ornamentals are Lical, Crabapple, Dogwood, Cherry, Hydrangea Tree, Hornbeam, Japanese Maple, Redbud, Hawthorn, Rose of Sharon Tree, Plum and Serviceberry.

Evergreen Trees

You know a tree is an evergreen tree because it does not lose its needles in the winter and will retain the rich green and blue appearance.  Evergreens are often used to add aesthetics to the yard during the winter time but can function as a wind breaker as well.  Our favorite evergreens include: Spruce, Pine, Fir, Arboritae, Juniper and Falsecypress

Fruit Trees

Fruit trees are a variety of tree that will produce fruit that can be consumed by people.  Most trees that flower will produce fruit but in horticulture circles a fruit tree is a tree that can be consumed by people.  Some popular varieties include: Apple, Plum, Cherry, Pear and Peach. Home Landscape Materials Home & Nursery carries a wonderful selection of both Apple and Plum trees
